Top Celebrity Bails of 2011

08.30.2011 · Posted in Criminal, Legal

Celebrity bails have been coming out in force even though 2011 is half over. Most often, we hear about them causing general public disturbances, getting caught driving drunk or crashing their car while under the influence. For celebrities, although this is a punishable offense, most of them can post their bail bonds in Los Angeles for $100,000 and continue on with their careers. Here’s the hottest scoop on these stars’ tribulations. Remember, even the rich and famous can use the services of a bail bondsman now and then, no matter how wealthy and famous (or, in some of these cases, infamous).

6. Rick Springfield

Springfield

Rick Springfield, 61-year-old musician made world-famous for panting after “Jessie’s Girl” was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in May 2011. The dog-loving singer/songwriter was reportedly swerving his Corvette left and right, and when pulled over smelled of alcohol. After failing several sobriety tests and allegedly threatening a deputy, he was booked and released on a $5,000 bond.

5. Hines Ward

Ward

Dancing With The Stars champ and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested just outside of suburban Atlanta on DUI charges after an officer noted his vehicle swerving through lanes and hitting a curb. After refusing to take a Breathalyzer test (and failing the field sobriety check) he was taken to DeKalb County Jail, where he was released the next morning on a $1,000 bond.

4. Puck Rainey

Former Real World troublemaker David “Puck” Rainey has been busted on domestic violence charges in Los Angeles, currently being held on a $30,000 bail. One of the only subjects of the show to be evicted from the shared MTV house in the 1994 season of Real World: San Francisco, repeat offender Rainey faces a significant amount of prison time. His eviction, shown in the above video, is a thing of beauty.

3. Ezra Miller

Miller

19-year-old “Perks of Being A Wallflower” star Ezra Miller was stopped for a routine traffic violation south of Pittsburgh, PA when officers noticed a “brown vegetable material” on his lap and marijuana and rolling papers in the actor’s jacket. Nice try lighting a cigarette to cover the smell, Ezra — hope your extracurricular activities won’t interfere with the shooting of this beloved coming-of-age tale (which, incidentally, deals with marijuana use itself).

2. Gary Dourdan

Dourdan

E! Online reports that former CSI dreamboat Gary Dourdan has been arrested on suspicion of drug possession and DUI after allegedly plowing into several parked cars. Ecstasy was found on his person, and Dourdan was brought to a nearby station and released after the posting of a $10,000 bail.

1. Lindsay Lohan

Lohan

What list of celebrity bails would be complete without an appearance by perennial TMZ favorite Lindsay Lohan? The troubled actress was accused in January of walking out of a trendy Hollywood boutique with a $2,500 necklace while still on probation from a 2007 drunk driving charge. After the actress’s bail was set at a whopping $75,000, the judge on the case warned “If you violate the law again, I will remand you with no bail. Things will be different.” Better watch out, Lindsay! You’ll think of something to accessorize that ankle bracelet with, I’m sure.

  1. It’s interesting how many of these charges are for more or less inconsequential charges made more intense by getting behind the wheel. Many of these could have been avoided simply by the stars pursuing their vices in their own homes! While local Bakersfield attorneys are available to help people like this defend themselves in court, in the end it pays off simply to stay behind or call a taxi.
